The Freeze Drying Process

The process involves freezing the food, reducing the pressure, and then applying gentle heat to allow the water to sublimate from solid to gas. This careful method retains the nutritional integrity of the raw meat, preserving all natural enzymes, vitamins, and minerals in a highly bioavailable form. Unlike traditional cooking or dehydration, freeze-drying keeps the food’s cellular structure intact, delivering a product that is nearly identical to fresh but with the added benefit of a long shelf life.

Safe Handling and Storage Instructions

Always provide pets access to clean fresh water.

Wash hands, utensils, counters, food dishes and related areas thoroughly with hot, soapy water after each feeding.

Keep freeze dried products sealed and stored in a cool dark place. More detail listed below in FAQ section.

Feeding Guidelines

This can be served dry as a treat or served as a meal booster once rehydrated.

As a meal booster:
To rehydrate, we recommend starting with 1/2 cup of warm water to 1 cup of freeze dried green tripe. Mix well. If there are pieces that are still dry, you can add more water until all the pieces are rehydrated.

From our experience:
- 2 oz rehydrated can yield 9 oz
- 4 oz rehydrated can yield 12 oz
- 8 oz rehydrated can yield 28 oz

FAQ

What is the shelf life of freeze dried?

While freeze-dried can have a long shelf life, because of the product bag we are using, we recommend using the product within 6 months from the production date. Once opened, we recommend consuming the product within 1 to 2 months.

To maximize its shelf life, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, the shelf life can vary more depending on exposure to air and humidity, which can reintroduce moisture back into the product. To preserve quality and prevent spoilage:

  • Store Properly: Keep the product in an airtight container or reseal the original packaging tightly after each use. This helps to keep out moisture and other contaminants.
  • Use an Oxygen Absorber: We recommend adding a desiccant packet to absorb any moisture that may enter the container.
